Then I added a track that would emphasise the joke but wasn't necessarily essential as some users scroll through the app with it muted. I used a track that complimented the "live show" aesthetic and mixed it with audience applause and claps

It was then decided that, given how our young audience reacts to emoji's and us being a mobile app, we should incorporate one into the piece as once the joke was revealed it seemed very static and it would also act as a visual aid to the piece. Plus, given that one of the emoji reactions on the app as well as the avatar for the jokes section of the app were also a laughing emoji - it felt complimentary to incorporate it in the actual content
When uploading them to the app, I noticed that on the Jokes page where they'd all be uploaded, the app takes the first second of the content and turns that into a thumbnail. Given that the start of the joke is a closed curtain, the page would just be filled with exact thumbnails and aside from being aesthetically boring it's impossible to decipher or keep track of which joke is which:
I decided to then start the joke from midway of the curtain being open, this way you can see the joke from the very beginning and jump straight into it, plus on the joke page you can tell each apart and navigate to a particular joke easily:
Given the capabilities of the app and having that interactive element, rather than the joke's being a standalone piece of content and ending with a curtain close, I decided to implement a UGC feature so that the children can submit their own jokes and would be prompted at the end, this also gave way for us to be able to highlight the best submitted jokes and put them into the template I've created
The added element of UGC worked perfectly for our television channel too and allowed for jokes to be showcased on air and furthered the interactive element of the app and allowed the presenters to promote the feature more easily on screen:
